In the book “Critical Care” chapter 6 stood out the most to me. Chapter 6 stood out the most to me because it seemed that healthcare professionals continued on with a code when it should have been stopped sooner because they knew that there was no chance of getting the person back. It stood out to me because I think that it is important when being a nurse to know when to pull away. I also think that knowing when to pull away is a good trait of a nurse to have not only for your patient but for yourself. I think that this can be important because in a way it practices our learning goal of selfcare. Having selfcare is important because it allows you to destress from work and focus on yourself instead of others. Knowing selfcare I believe can be a part of letting go, because the outcome is going to be sad, but you have ways to cope around it and even before it happens. You shouldn’t keep trying to save a patient when its wrong but you are doing it more for yourself, so you don’t have to go through the grief.
